Why would you like to serve on the HCC Board of Directors?

I am deeply enthusiastic about our community co-op and committed to supporting local small businesses that provide our community with fresh, nutrient-rich, foods and natural products that support overall health and wellbeing. Working in a healthcare setting within our community, I understand the vital importance of ensuring access to such products for all members. I greatly value how our co-op addresses this need by maintaining affordable prices and offering discounts to members. I also cherish the warm, welcoming atmosphere our co-op provides. It warms my heart to see smiling, familiar, faces and the products I love. I simply desire to be a part of something I feel passionate about.

What is your favorite part of being an owner at HCC?

My favorite aspect of being an owner at HCC is knowing that I am a small part of our community's greater good. I know that the energy I spend, is contributing to the health and wellbeing of our community.

What experience or involvement have you had with HCC and our community?

In terms of our community, I have volunteered at the Veteran's Healing Farm, the YMCA food pantry in North Asheville, and have volunteered at various local community farms and gardens.

What have you done in the past that demonstrates the skills to benefit the board?

My years of community nursing care and clinical management will serve the board well. I am an effective leader that values the democratic process. Currently, I have the privilege of serving Pardee Home Health as the Manager of Clinical Services. Whenever there are changes that I believe need to be implemented, I always consult with my team and seek out their input. I value the insight that can only be gained through the lens of others' experiences and wisdom. Also of benefit to the board, I currently lead our home health agency's QAPI team (Qaulity Assurance, Performance Improvement). The QAPI team is both proactive and retrospective; proactive in assuring high standards for quality of service and outcomes, and retrospective when evaluating performance risk areas or areas where standards of service have not been met.

What is your vision for the future of our cooperative?

My vision for our co-op is that we continue to offer a welcoming environment where every member feels a sense of belonging, activiely participates in decision-making, and contributes to a supportive community network that enhances personal and collective well-being. I believe stability of the co-op is the number one priority so that growth can happen organically, incrementally and sustainably.
